Insurance happens when governments endeavor to give household makers a counterfeit cost value advantage over its outside rivals. Unhindered commerce depends on the guideline of near favorable position. In the nineteenth century the financial expert David Ricardo endeavored to show that nations ought to represent considerable authority in the creation of those great/benefits in which they have a near advantage.According to David Riccardo's hypothesis of similar bit of leeway, nation An ought to work in delivering machines and nation B ought to have practical experience in delivering food and afterward every nation ought to take part in universal exchange and trade their surpluses. Ricardo endeavored to show that the world would accomplish an ideal allotment of assets and in this manner the worldwide yield of products and ventures would be augmented. Security Issues – IPv6

Question: Portray about the Report for Security Issues IPv6. Answer: Lets start the excursion of over considering on security issues for IPv6, and accessible end for the equivalent. Here what you will pick up from these tips - Although IPv6 is a prosperity engaged show; movement from IPv4 can make new perils and cripple an association's security technique. In this tip, find a few solutions concerning the limit dangers and how to make certain a basic move without imperiling your affiliation's security. In case you haven't thought around the impact of IPv6 on your gathering's security, it's an incredible chance to begin tending to! The alternative for the appreciated IPv4 show is at present being utilized on the web and may even exist in your gathering without your information. Here is a gander at a bit of the security repercussions of IPv6. You are no doubt aware of the rising force at the rear of the tumult to IPv6 we're strolling around of IP oversee space! The current 32-piece tending to plot utilized by IPv4 allows in for an astonishing 4.3 billion explicit areas. Notwithstanding the way that that appears abundance, remember that there are around 6.4 billion individuals on our planet. Extremely, the whole gang doesn't have an IP oversee, yet those that do may have a few among home and work structures, IP-enabled phones, and differing framework conscious gadgets. The speedy impact of a period in rising markets, especially inside the Asian-Pacific domain, demands another gracefully of IP oversee space (Deep Kaur, 2015). Web Protocol variation 6 (IPv6) is the exceptional time of show described by InternetEngineering Task power (IETF) to displace the leaving IPv4 show. At present, most of Internet customers are so far using IPv4 show, and given that a huge bit of current frameworks organization applications and framework gear continue running in IPv4 circumstances, the migration from IPv4 to IPv6 can't be refined for the time being. It is obvious that the development will be a long stretch procedure (it is resolved that the system will take 10 - 20 years). In the midst of the movement, IPv4 and IPv6 will exist together in an equivalent framework. This development methodology acts new troubles on the switches that are the inside equipment in IP framework. Standard switches can't suit new future framework with IPv4/v6 combination. The switches must be upgraded and redesignd with the objective that they can support both IPv4 and IPv6.Given that the inside switch is crucial and passes on giant Internet de als, it must have the ability to reinforce IPv6 sending at wire rate. It suggests ASIC chip, yet not writing computer programs is used to reinforce IPv6 bundle getting ready. Meanwhile, it is essential that this sponsorship can't yield any IPv4 execution. Taking everything into account, by far most of current deals is IPv4. The inside switch must develop to support IPv6 guiding tables and needs to reinforce IPv6 directing shows, for instance, BGP4+, OSPFv3, ISISv6, RIPng, etc. It needs to support some migration system from IPv4 to IPv6, for instance, Tunnel, Dual Stack, Translation, etc. IPv6 takes care of this issue by utilizing the utilization of 128-piece tending to. That takes into consideration a total of 3.4 x 1038 locations an amount that must safeguard us from running out for a long haul. (In show disdain toward, when they said while IPv4 arrived out!) Anyway, what does the rise of IPv6 infer to security experts? Lets analyze five exact IPv6 security gives that sway our work: Security specialists need training/tutoring on IPv6. IPv6 will go to the frameworks under your influence it's only a depend on upon of time. in like manner with any new frameworks organization advancement, it is vital which you take in the essentials of IPv6, especially the tending to plan and shows, that licenses you to urge scene adjusting to and related exercises(DERA gives free infection security, 2001). Wellbeing gear should be overhauled. IPv6 isn't in reverse appropriate. The hardware and programming used to way visitors every single through framework and complete prosperity examinations won't masterful manifestations with IPv6 visitors until they're climbed to assortments that help the show. This is explicitly fundamental to remember as to edge security devices. Switches, firewalls, and interference ID structures may moreover require programming as well as gear redesigns so you can talk IPv6. Numerous makers have just persuaded those upgrades to be had. For example, Cisco organizing gadgets support IPv6 as of IOS discharge 12.0S(Eom, 2007). Existing hardware may require extra setup. The contraptions that do manage IPv6 typically manage it as a completely partition convention (as they should). Thusly, the get passage to sort out records, guideline bases, and other course of action parameter may furthermore need to be rethought and mean help an IPv6 environment. Contact the exact makers for exact orders Burrowing conventions make new dangers. The frameworks organization and confirmation packs have placed time and essentialness in ensuring that IPv6 is an insurance enable guideline. Regardless, perhaps the best hazard normal in the migration is the utilization of tunneling show to reinforce the transition to IPv6. These shows approve the encapsulation of IPv6 visitors in IPv4 records tributary for coordinating through mutinous contraptions. Accordingly, it's down to earth that customers for your framework can start taking walks IPv6 the usage of these tunneling show before you're set up to unquestionably reinforce it in collecting. If this is a subject, square IPv6 tunneling shows (close by plunking down, ISATAP, 6to4 and others) at your outskirt (Huang and McKinley, 2003). This framework is use in interfacing two separate frameworks typically associated in point to point sorting out. This licenses bundle of IPv6 to be transmitted over the present IPv4 framework structure. This framework awards relationship to move some bit of its framework to IPv6 while the others are so far dealing with the IPv4 spine. With this method, separates IPv6 framework can authentically connect with the spine switch until it is normal for superseding with IPV6 immaculate equipment. It in like manner licenses frameworks running on IPv6 to work despite when the Service Providers are running on IPv4 in a manner of speaking. There are two sorts of tunneling specifically: manual and modified tunneling. Manual Tunnel: This incorporates genuinely courses of action of the end structures of IPv4 and IPv6 with the correct open IP addresses. Customized tunneling: It engages kept IPv6 framework to interface over existing IPv4 establishment. This affiliation doesn't ought to be directed or managed clearly in light of the fact that the IPV4 framework is managed as head association. The Ipv4 area is inserted intoIPv6 address in other to discover the tunneling goal. IPv6 autoconfiguration makes tending to intricacy. Auto plan, another captivating IPv6 trademark, awards structures to routinely advantage a gathering deal without official intervention. IPv6 supports excellent auto game plan systems. The classy auto configuration makes usage of DHCPv6, a clear improve to the forefront DHCP show, and would not reflect heaps of a differentiation from an affirmation perspective. In any case, hold an eye chose stateless auto arrangement. This strategy grants systems to make their own unique IP areas and tests for a course of action with duplication. This decentralized system can be less frustrated from a development affiliation perspective, regardless, it raises difficulties for the one's kinfolk blamed for following the usage (and abuse!) of gathering assets(IEEE Transactions on Networking dissemination information, 2004). As you can teach, IPv6 is dynamic. It allows us to gather our frameworks for the following decade of inescapable get area to, in any case, similarly as with any progression, requires wary excitement from a prosperity point. Sweeps and IPv6 With 18 billion locations in a/64 subnet, successive checking is futile. Itd step through 500,000 years to examination a solitary/sixty-four at one million tests as per second. Be that as it may, indicated examining (the utilization of different assets to pick up data on adapt to levels) may in any case be conceivable. This can use focuses comprising of Neighbor Discovery, directing work area, which is, or inverse DNS to find slanted hosts. Hardly any more dangers, which legitimately Impact on singular works methodology! Same a similar number of framework propels, powerful game plan of IPv6 relies upon the association of the heads' IPv6 framework. As one focus fragment in IPv6 framework, IPv6 focus switch is basic to organize building, applications, execution and adequacy. At present, standard switch merchants like Cisco and Juniper announce that their switches can support IPv6 while some standard IT gear makes, especially those in Japan, contemplate by IPv6 will change the whole scene of switch business segment, which passes on basic open entryways for them to enter switch showcase. From 2000 to 2002, Hitachi, NEC and Fujitsu pronounced IPv6-capable focus change to expand some bit of the pie in new Internet framework. It must be surrendered that IPv6 is still in the fundamental stage at present, which is reflected in the going with perspectives: most IPv6 framework is in preliminary stage, the amount of access customers is low, passed on IPv6 deals can't be for all intents and purposes indistinguish able from IPv4, the interoperability between IPv6 gear despite everything ought to be illustrated, and organize engineers need in contribution in considerable scale sending and activity of IPv6 framework. The nonattendance of data and experience is one of indispensable causes that make a couple of directors need in trust in IPv6 framework sending. Various directors take kick back and watch dispositions. Remembering the ultimate objective to show IPv6 switch

Conceptualizing Addiction Paper - 1038 Words

Conceptualizing Addiction Paper Kristina Lamey May 25, 2015 BSHS/455 David Elkins Conceptualizing Addiction Paper The history of addiction goes back centuries, and unfortunately, there is still a long way to go for people to realize the effects of chemical substances do more harm than good. The difference between drug use and abuse relies heavily on a person’s dependence on the substance. The line between the differences is often very fine. Depending on other factors involved, such as morals, values, environment, and genetic predisposition, the line will most likely be crossed without regard to the consequences until treatment and recovery are the only options left. This is essay compares two theoretical explanations†¦show more content†¦However, usually, a multi-treatment approach is necessary. Psychological models focus on the emotion and the mind, while biological models, as discussed next, find that addictive behaviors depend on the structure and chemistry in the body’s genetic makeup. The Biological Model â€Å"The statistical associations between genetic factors and alcohol abuse are very strong† (McNeece DiNitto, 2012). However, there is still much debate over the validity of genetics as a definite cause for addiction. Perhaps, the reason for this is because the number of children of alcoholics that go on to become alcoholics is still small. Additionally, genetic predisposition cannot explain the number of cases of alcoholics that did not come from alcoholic parents or families. In fact, addiction can be so prominent, that it remains even after the drug use has ended (McNeece DiNitto, 2012). Therefore, the biological theory should not be ruled as it is based on what takes place in the body. There is no other theory that can explain how a person could still have addiction symptoms when the substance is absent from their system. Predisposition implies that there is a mutation or malfunction in the body that appears to cause a craving or susceptibility to becoming addicted to a substance. Comparing Psychological and Biological Models Both of the psychological and biological models explain addiction. In addition, both models take a holistic approach in their arguments. As people would say, â€Å"do not get too used to things† or â€Å"it feels too good to be true† these phrases were about to make much more sense to Jade as certain situations were about to occur. One of her coworkers, a nice swell well-groomed fellow, caught her eye at first sight. They immediately started talking and had similar hobbies, which turned into dates that turned into a potential relationship. This guy seemed so wonderful to her until she started realizing some strange activities going on with her credit card account. This prince charming was actually using her hard-earned cash to splurge on himself behind her back. She was hurt at first and did not think this would happen to her. She immediately confronted him; he admitted it and they ended their relationship. After a few months of getting back on her feet, Jade Kat was all about striving towards success. She was still working for the company for about 5 years. Her designs were being recognized by top fashionistas. Jade was so close to her dream, she could taste it. During one of the companies fashion shows, Kobe King, one of the top of the line tuxedo designers, was checking out Jade’s wedding line and loved it. The two met for dinner at one of the finest restaurants in Japan. They went over a few of her designs and he was very impressed. He offered Jade a position in his company and she accepted. The two started working together right away on a wedding spring line. With Kobe and Jade’s launch, the two made millions off their line together. The success of their launch has made their line the top 5 to choose from in Japan. After 2 years of being great colleagues, the two decided to host a huge party inviting many famous designers and celebrities to celebrate their success together. During the party, Kobe had told Jade, â€Å"Come with me to my office, we need to talk business. † Little did she know, Kobe always had great interest in her. â€Å"Come, sit down,† he called while he fetched her a drink. While she was busy looking over designs, Kobe had locked the door in his soundproof office. After a little small talk, his intoxicated-self made his way over her and handed her the drink. She immediately smelled and noticed pill pieces in her drink and pretended to drink it. Kobe by then, was already all over her, harassing her and even tried to abuse her. She managed to knock him down, unlock the door and get help. He later was arrested, placed in jail and out of Jade’s life for good. A situation as hard as that is something very devastating to go through. Jade had to get psychological help to get back to the successful woman she was trying hard to be. She had to forgive the ones who insulted her, attacked her, belittled her, and took her for granted but before she did that, she had to forgive herself for allowing them to hurt her. (live, laugh, dream, 2013) Once Jade was well enough to leave the rehabilitation, she rented an apartment and her old job gave her leverage and time to keep to herself until she felt fully ready to come back to work. In the next 3 months, Jade fully recovered and was back creating designs no one has ever thought to create. This recovery won so many people’s hearts and concern for her, it brought all the success she wanted. Her pain and her realness was what gave her success. Jade Kat become a strong independent woman. She created her own retail line called â€Å"On The Prowl, Inc. † and is living the life of a successful entrepreneur. Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable†¦ Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals. MLK, 2013) Despite the struggles she had to endure, success was all she ever wanted and received it. With all her success and good-will, God blessed her with true love and now she lives a happy life as a successful mother, wife, and entrepreneur. References live, laugh, dream (2013) Search Quotes. Gender and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Programs

Gender and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Programs Introduction Information and communication technology continues to be adopted, developed, and integrated in everyday life all over the world by all generations. However, there has been continuous under-representation of women entering into Information and Communication Technology (ICT) programs. This under-representation is a long-standing problem that has been worsening over time, with the society, governments, and institutions coming up with a variety of possible causes and solutions.Advertising We will write a custom assessment sample on Gender and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Programs specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Under-representation has even become rampant in societies that have integrated information and communication technology in school curriculum from the lowest level of pre-school. The most visible indicator of under-representation of women in information and communication technology is the low percenta ge of enrolment in tertiary ICT programs by women. More so, women and men have a wide gap in technology education and exposure to technology (Anderson, 2007, pg 78). Information and communication technology variance between men and women is tied to segregation and status differences that result in reduction in women’s access to knowledge and income resources. The issue revolves around gender inequality in all aspects of social works where women are regarded and treated as less superior to men and even subjects in extreme cases. Women’s limited access to knowledge and income resources compared to men is a considerable factor that causes under-representation of women in adoption and advancement in information and communication technology. The gap between the status of women and that of men is referred to as gender spaces hindering women from knowledge used by men in reproducing income resource power and privileges of advancement knowledge (Buskens Webb, 2009, pg 77) Sum mary article 1 Universities seek to improve information and communication technology courses with respect to gender representation in the study programmes, given the fact that female students are adversely under-represented in male dominated areas such as information and communication technology and mathematics. Female students are proved to perform better than their male counterparts in information and communication technology courses, even though gender differences have a direct relation to different skills and the way people think and carry out their operations. Profession and education in information and communication technology is represented by a small percentage of women despite female predominance in general undergraduate courses. Gender inequality in information and communication technology can be broadly viewed to emanate from the processes of recruitment, retention and the advancement of women in the sector. Universities face many challenges in retaining female students i n information and communication technology courses, with first year students recording the highest rate of dropout.Advertising Looking for assessment on gender studies? Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More This is attributed to the fact that tertiary ICT enrolments depend on student’s strong foundation of mathematics in secondary and primary schools, which has been affected by the negative view of the subject by most female students. Gender difference in mathematical ability, interest, and perception has been the root cause of under-representation of women in male dominated fields. Gender imbalance in ICT can also be as a result of student motivation and background of pre-knowledge in a particular program, where individual’s internal conditions activates behavior and desire then direct him towards a goal. The motivation may be intrinsic or extrinsic academic orientation that arises from social influences suc h as those from parents, relatives, and friends. Academic extrinsic orientation directs students to successfully complete the educational system and test their own capacity while intrinsic orientation motivates students to study in their own way to improve themselves but with condition that the subject is interesting and attractive to them. However, student motivation can be directly linked to gender differences in that female students go for ICT because of employment needs while male students have extrinsic motivation. Research has based its assumption on the fact that men and women are different in the way they learn and there perception to information and learning materials. In cases where methods and materials of learning and assessment are not tailored to fit the evident differences between men and women in the learning environment, performances vary in broad way. This is due to the fact that men prefer multiple-choice questions while women prefer essays and coursework. Learnin g institutions have therefore introduced a variety of assessment methods that accommodate both men and women. However, learning materials could not be changed to accommodate both genders due to the need of content preservation. Introduction of e-learning has seen improved satisfaction and performance of both men and women although men proved to be more interested than women leading to gender inequality in the long run as students get enrolled into ICT tertiary education and profession. Female students are less satisfied with the introduction of computers in learning than their male counterparts are although they perform better in areas where presentation and verbal skills are applied. In general, women are under-represented in ICT professions and education due to the fact that women identify job security and flexibility of working hours as a motivator while men are attracted and motivated by technology and advancement in the ICT sector.Advertising We will write a custom asse ssment sample on Gender and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Programs specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Summary: Article 2 ICT professions and programs have been lately under-represented by women due to women’s voluntary rejection of ICT despite its the continuous integration into everyday life situations. The industry is facing shortage of qualified ICT personnel with continued reduction of female students who choose ICT as a career choice because of sociocultural influences that shape perceptions about ICT between men and women. The sociocultural influences are linked to specific societies where women are under-represented in ICT due to gender stereotypes, unlike other countries where there is gender balance in the industry. Moreover, gender stereotypes learnt through media, home, and school environment influences perceptions and success expectations of female individuals who could possibly venture into ICT. However, st ereotypes can be modified over time as people grow up and belief that there are no roles linked particularly to masculinity or femininity. The perception that entry into the ICT industry is for economic power and high level of education with technical expertise where girls tend to generally dislike difficult problems and failures linked to ICT. However, the dislikes are as a result girls being imparted stereotypical attitudes by the society and media. Due to the stereotypes, women believe that their success in ICT is by chance and hard work, unlike men who attribute their success in ICT to natural ability. Moreover, women may believe that their failure in ICT is particularly due to their inability. Initiatives such as scholarships to women in ICT have led to further problems since they believe they are selected for the programs due to there gender and not ability. Perception of long working hours in isolation, technical skills, and mathematical abilities of ICT, jobs as fit for men have also contributed to under-representation of women in the industry. Media has also had significant impact on gender stereotypes through programs that depict men as computer programmers and developers, with women as mere users of computer who cannot match men’s technical ability due to genetic makeup. There have been significantly few programs that depict women as ICT professions, unlike the programs that depict women in powerful positions that were previously male dominated. Most ICT magazines show male workers and women being assisted by men in computer work thus negative perceptions to girls. Gender inequality in ICT can be linked to the fact that women and girls do not have female role models in the ICT field.Advertising Looking for assessment on gender studies? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Evaluations of Article 1 and 2 Article one Article two Relevance The articles analysis of ICT programmes in universities is relevant to gender although mathematics has no relevance to gender inequality in ICT profession and education. Information on gender stereotypes imparted to girls by sociocultural influences is relevant and directly impacts on female under-representation in information and communication technology industry Reliability The analysis is less reliable in concluding that interests and concentration of the girl child on mathematics during lower level of education such as secondary schools has contributed to under-representation in ICT sector. Information is reliable due to the proof that there is gender balance in specific countries such as Portugal and Spain that have positive perception of equal ability between men and women in all fields. Women are equally represented in ICT. Accuracy The information is not accurate since there was no direct relation be tween performance of girls in ICT programmes and mathematics with tertiary enrolment and career choices in ICT The research is more accurate since there was direct proportionality between sociocultural influences and career choices made by women and girls. Lack of Bias The research is not biased to any specific findings. Gender inequality is attributed to varying reasons such as retention, recruitment, and advancement of women in ICT. The information and conclusion of the research is biased to one aspect of gender stereotype although there are a variety of factors contributing to under-representation of women in male dominated fields such as ICT. Completeness The information and research is not complete, as the conclusion does not pinpoint gender inequality to a specific cause. Research and information is complete since female under-representation in information and communication technology is attributed to negative perceptions on women’s ability in male dominated areas. Up-to-date The research is up-to-date as the estimates and women’s opinions represent data for 2006 and 2007. Research isn’t up-to-date since data used was from past researchers and evidence from sociocultural practices that have been there. Reference List Anderson, B., 2007. James McPherson - Civil War James McPherson - Army of the Tennessee

James McPherson - Civil War James McPherson - Army of the Tennessee James McPherson - Early Life Career: James Birdseye McPherson was born November 14, 1828, near Clyde, Ohio. The son of William and Cynthia Russell McPherson, he worked on the familys farm and aided with his fathers blacksmith business. When he was thirteen, McPhersons father, who had a history of mental illness, became unable to work. To aid the family, McPherson took a job at a store run by Robert Smith. An avid reader, he worked in this position until he was nineteen when Smith aided him in obtaining an appointment to West Point. Rather than immediately enroll, he deferred his acceptance and took two years of preparatory study at Norwalk Academy. Arriving at West Point in 1849, he was in the same class as Philip Sheridan, John M. Schofield, and John Bell Hood. A gifted student, he graduated first (of 52) in the Class of 1853. Though posted to the Army Corps of Engineers, McPherson was retained at West Point for a year to serve as an Assistant Professor of Practical Engineering. Completing his teaching assignment, he next was ordered to aid in improving New York Harbor. In 1857, McPherson was transferred to San Francisco to work on improving fortifications in the area. James McPherson - The Civil War Begins: With the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 and the beginning of the secession crisis, McPherson declared that he wished to fight for the Union. As the Civil War began in April 1861, he realized that his career would be best served if he returned east. Asking for a transfer, he received orders to report to Boston for service in the Corps of Engineers as a captain. Though an improvement, McPherson desired to serve with one of the Union armies then forming. In November 1861, he wrote to Major General Henry W. Halleck and requested a position on his staff. James McPherson - Joining with Grant: This was accepted and McPherson traveled to St. Louis. Arriving, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and assigned as chief engineer on the staff of Brigadier General Ulysses S. Grant. In February 1862, McPherson was with Grants army when it captured Fort Henry and played a key role in deploying Union forces for the Battle of Fort Donelson a few days later. McPherson again saw action in April during the Union victory at the Battle of Shiloh. Impressed with the young officer, Grant had him promoted to brigadier general in May. James McPherson - Rising through the Ranks: That fall saw McPherson in command of an infantry brigade during the campaigns around Corinth and Iuka, MS. Again performing well, he received a promotion to major general on October 8, 1862. In December, Grants Army of the Tennessee was reorganized and McPherson received command of XVII Corps. In this role, McPherson played a key part in Grants campaign against Vicksburg, MS in late 1862 and 1863. In the course of the campaign, he took part in victories at Raymond (May 12), Jackson (May 14), Champion Hill (May 16), and the Siege of Vicksburg (May 18-July 4). James McPherson - Leading the Army of the Tennessee: In the months following the victory at Vicksburg, McPherson remained in Mississippi conducting minor operations against the Confederates in the area. As a result, he did not travel with Grant and part of the Army of the Tennessee to relieve the siege of Chattanooga. In March 1864, Grant was ordered east to take overall command of Union forces. In reorganizing the armies in the West, he directed that McPherson be made commander of the Army of the Tennessee on March 12, replacing Major General William T. Sherman, who was promoted to command all Union forces in region. Commencing his campaign against Atlanta in early May, Sherman moved through northern Georgia with three armies. While McPherson advanced on the right, Major General George H. Thomas Army of the Cumberland formed the center while Major General John Schofields Army of the Ohio marched on the Union left. Confronted by General Joseph E. Johnstons strong position at Rocky Face Ridge and Dalton, Sherman dispatched McPherson south to Snake Creek Gap. From this undefended gap, he was to strike at Resaca and sever the railroad which was supplying the Confederates to the north. Emerging from the gap on May 9, McPherson became concerned that Johnston would move south and cut him off. As a result, he withdrew to the gap and failed to take Resaca despite the fact the city was lightly defended. Moving south with the bulk of Union forces, Sherman engaged Johnston at the Battle of Resaca on May 13-15. Largely inconclusive, Sherman later blamed McPhersons cautiousness on May 9 for preventing a great Union victory. As Sherman maneuvered Johnston south, McPhersons army took part in the defeat at Kennesaw Mountain on June 27. James McPherson - Final Actions: Despite the defeat, Sherman continued to press south and crossed the Chattahoochee River. Nearing Atlanta, he intended to attack the city from three directions with Thomas pushing in from the north, Schofield from the northeast, and McPherson from the east. Confederate forces, now led by McPhersons classmate Hood, attacked Thomas at Peachtree Creek on July 20 and were turned back. Two days later, Hood planned to attack McPherson as the Army of the Tennessee approached from the east. Learning that McPhersons left flank was exposed, he directed Lieutenant General William Hardees corps and cavalry to attack. Meeting with Sherman, McPherson heard the sound of fighting as Major General Grenville Dodges XVI Corps worked to halt this Confederate assault in what became known as the Battle of Atlanta. Riding to the sound of the guns, with only his orderly as an escort, he entered a gap between Dodges XVI Corps and Major General Francis P. Blairs XVII Corps. As he advanced, a line of Confederate skirmishers appeared and ordered him to halt. Refusing, McPherson turned his horse and tried to flee. Opening fire, the Confederates killed him as he tried to escape. Beloved by his men, McPhersons death was mourned by leaders on both sides. Sherman, who considered McPherson a friend, wept upon learning of his death and later wrote his wife, McPhersons death was a great loss to me. I depended much on him. Upon learning of the death of his protà ©gà ©, Grant was also moved to tears. Across the lines, McPhersons classmate Hood penned, I will record the death of my classmate and boyhood friend, General James B. McPherson, the announcement of which caused me sincere sorrow...the attachment formed in early youth was strengthened by my admiration and gratitude for his conduct toward our people in the vicinity of Vicksburg. The second highest ranking Union officer killed in combat (behind Major General John Sedgwick), McPhersons body was recovered and returned to Ohio for burial. Nation State and Transnational Entities Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Nation State and Transnational Entities - Essay Example This essay stresses that USA is a perfect example of a nation state. Though it is a multicultural society, it is regarded as a nation-state due to the existence of the shared American "culture." It has a territory that is composed of all the states; it also has a government as well as sovereignty. This paper makes a concludion that the European integration process has been characterized by two periods. These are; the Cold War and Second World War. After these two historical events, a majority of the European States recognized the need for cooperation. After the Second World War, Europeans learnt a lesson that encouraged them to test practically benefits that could accrue from European integration. The War had led to reduction of European power. In addition, this decline was an opportunity for the Soviet Union and the US to lead in terms of security, political as well as economic positions. These therefore pushed European leaders to put behind their differences and cooperate. The cooperation was intended to eliminate the causes of war and promote European political as well as economic union. It is worth noting that there were different reasons that motivated them. There was a group made up of states that had been destroyed following the war and were keen on reconstructing their economy as well as reestablish the lost international power. These states were prepared to sacrifice their national sovereignty so as to reach their goals.

U07d1 Statistics and Information Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

U07d1 Statistics and Information - Essay Example Regression differs from correlation - which establishes whether there is any association between two variables (Chatterjee and Hadi, p. 24). In the case of health care industry, this analysis has a major role and is used in several different aspects like the study of diabetic indicators. This method has been used in order to examine the relationships between different medical issues like blood pressure and diabetes and other possible issues. Correlation analysis: Correlation refers to the degree of association between two variables. When two variables are said to be correlated, it indicates that there is a relationship or a pattern in the movement of the two variables. However, correlation does not indicate causation, i.e., the cause of movement of the variable. In other words, when two variables of correlated, it does not necessarily mean that the change in one variable is responsible or is the cause of change in the other variable (Downing and Clark, 178). In the case of health care industry, correlation analysis can be used to learn the differences between the percentage change of the visceral AT and also the changes in terms of the changes in the AT (Cowel, 2007). T-tests: This is a test that helps in addressing the issues of credibility. Here the process is very simple where the mean values for the groups are divided by the dispersion of the differences and the results are the T – Test ratio. Considering the health care industry, it is important to note that this method has a major role in the health care and is one of the best ways to bring out the incorrect and wrong claims (Downing & Clark, 2010). For instance the claims that a certain food or medicine brings down the blood sugar of a person. This can be tested by the t tests and helps attain a truthful response of the effectiveness of the food or drug. (Horton, 2009) Analysis of variance: This is one of the statistical methods to

Mind-body Distinction :: essays research papers

â€Å"Mind-Body distinction† We usually view the mind as the brain and body as something physical. The mind may be better known and understood when one is thinking. When thinking, the mind is made up purely of thoughts and the body is an extension. The mind is telling the body what to do. The mind is a mental entity and the brain itself is the physical body. Although one can not have a mind with out a brain, the mind and brain differ in which one is mental and the other physical. Together the mind and body are like a foundation. Empirically we know that the mind needs a brain to exist, but the mind is not a physical substance. Moreover, a brain sits useless unless it has a mind. Substances with shape, mass, and other physical properties characterize the physical. In contrast, substances without any size, shape, mass often characterize the mental. One of the first things about our bodies is that they have limitations that we may think are not there. Our bodies seem to be what they are no matter what we think about them. Although you can change your body by changing your body image, you can never become the ideal person you think you can be. Thus, our bodies seem to exist and be what they are independently from what any mind thinks they are. Are bodies are physical and can not be changed because we can see them change in our mind. The body can be controlled by the mind to do certain things but the mind can not change our physical appearance. The main characteristic of the mind is the ability to think. A mind does more than take in information from the world and react to it. The mind has hopes, feelings, and beliefs. It is aware of the world and has feelings and thoughts about the information that it takes in from the world. Minds are non-physical and the thoughts it produces do not have anything in common with the physical. We can see, touch, or hear our thoughts. An idea can exist, but only in the mind. An idea has no physical properties to it. Physical objects can be perceived in the mind but objects in the mind are immaterial.

Political party in france

General Introduction The Parties have become a major player In politics In the late nineteenth century. The functioning of political regimes is deeply committed to the existence of these political parties that did not exist in the eighteenth century and were still embryonic in the early nineteenth century. In the totalitarian, one-party organizing manipulation. This explains the importance of parties in this type of regime. The importance of parties is also true In pluralist democracies because there Is a democratic competition : intention between political parties that compete for the conquest of Institutions and power. As the parties have a monopoly of electoral offer, they effectively control all elected offices, this means that the party has a virtual monopoly on the selection of leaders. For all these reasons, if we want to understand how liberal democracies work, one must understand how a political party works. What is a political party?A political party is an organized associat ion that brings together citizens united by a common Ideology or philosophy, which she seeks fulfillment , with the goal of inquest and exercise of power. This Is an organization In the service of an Idea. The political environment is not the same everywhere. It may give a different country to another characteristic of a locality to another. These characteristics result in particular the diversity of political parties, but also systems of parties that are not uniform. In France, the role of political parties has been enshrined in the Constitution of 1 958 (art. 4), which since 1999 also gives their mission Is to promote equal access for women and men to electoral mandates and elective functions. Law f 11 March 1988 on the financing of political parties said they form and pursue their activities freely, they are endowed with legal personality and can take legal action. ) The French political system can often seem bewildering and difficult to follow. Compared to Britain or the ASSAI, France seems to have a plethora of political parties.Politicians, supposedly of the political right, may be heard defending positions more often held by political parties of the left in many other countries, and In recent French history, a good proportion of the economic liberation's that has taken place In France has been pushed through by governments of the left. ‘-Type of political parties In a country, political parties are not all identical. Several factors can help to distinguish the number and quality of members, voting, discipline or schools of thought.Depending on each element, we will have several types of parties. The most common distinction In political science remains that which Is established by Maurice Diverge between Mass Party and Cadre Party. We must therefore distinguish different types of parties: A- The Cadre Party The Cadre Party was born in the nineteenth century. The Cadre Party it's a parties they are parties of notables (resulting in a first time, the bourgeoisie or aristocracy) and traditionally are right or center. Example: the Radical Party in France. The first parties were historically Cadre Parties. It was Initially parliamentary groups together the reputation, prestige, and sometimes money. All these parties remain poorly structured. The authority is exercised within the party executive is both personal and decentralized. It normally operates at the district and national bodies cadre parties are little more than the Juxtaposition of local influences. B- The Mass Party The Mass Party was born in the early twentieth century with the development of Socialism and Communism.Their goal is the transformation of society and the creation of a new social order. For this, they rely on a structured and hierarchical organization and a large number of members and ensuring financial autonomy and supervision of party voters ; Example: the Socialist Party in France Unlike Cadre Parties, which are created spontaneously, Mass Parties were the result of a conscious . Notable party executives are reluctant to defend extreme positions, specially if they are contrary to their interest. These considerations explain the emergence in the late nineteenth century Mass Parties and the fact that the first of them were socialist parties. Two objectives necessitate the creation of a Mass Party: compensation by the number of low social influence of the proletariat and educational purposes. The operation of the Mass Party rigorously apply democratic principles. Members are similar to the electorate. They elect delegates to the congress who meet regularly and take the most important decisions: adoption and amendment of the statutes, election management bodies.
